Terms & Conditions
We make our pieces by hand, using natural leather and traditional craftsmanship. That means every piece will be a little different — and we think that's part of its beauty.
Here are a few things to know before purchasing from Atelier Hanafedora.
LEATHER IS NATURAL
Leather is a natural material, so no two pieces will look exactly the same.
You may notice natural grain, wrinkles, small scars, pores, texture or slight colour variations. These are natural characteristics of leather and are not considered defects.
Over time, your leather may also soften, darken and develop a patina. That's part of its journey.
HANDMADE MEANS HUMAN-MADE
Our pieces are made by hand, not by machines in a mass-production line.
Small differences in stitching, finishing, measurements or shape can happen. We do our best to maintain our craftsmanship standards, and every regular-priced piece goes through QC before leaving our atelier.
COLOURS MAY LOOK DIFFERENT
We try our best to show our products as accurately as possible.
However, colours can look slightly different depending on lighting, photography and your screen. Leather colour can also vary slightly from one hide to another.
PERSONALISED ITEMS
Please double-check your spelling, initials and other details before confirming your order.
Our personalisation is stamped onto natural leather, so the result may not always look perfectly even or identical to what you see in our photos.
Every piece of leather is different — some areas are smoother, softer or firmer, while others may have a rougher or more textured grain. Because of this, the depth, sharpness and appearance of the stamping may vary from piece to piece.
These little differences are part of working with natural leather and make every personalised piece uniquely yours.
Once an item has been personalised, monogrammed, embossed or customised for you, it cannot be returned or exchanged for a change of mind.
If we make a mistake with the personalisation compared with the details you provided, please get in touch and we'll make it right.
FROM THE ARCHIVE
From The Archive is a little different from our regular collection.
These pieces may include work made by our students, apprentices or artisans-in-training. You may also find samples, prototypes, display pieces or pieces that didn't quite meet our regular collection standards.
This means the workmanship may not be perfect & won't be sold on website.
You might find uneven stitching, small scratches, finishing marks, alignment differences, glue marks or other little imperfections.
That's exactly why they're in the Archive — they're still beautiful, functional pieces that deserve a home, offered at a special price.
Please look through the photos and descriptions (By Whatsapp) carefully before purchasing. Archive pieces may be marked as Final Sale, subject to your rights under applicable law.
SAMPLES & PROTOTYPES
Samples and prototypes are part of our design process.
They may be slightly different from the final product in terms of leather, hardware, measurements, construction or finishing.
That's part of what makes them special.
PRE-ORDERS & MADE-TO-ORDER
Good things take time — especially when they're made by hand.
If you're purchasing a pre-order or made-to-order piece, the estimated completion date is a guide. Occasionally, production may take a little longer due to leather availability, craftsmanship or QC.
If there's a significant delay, we'll keep you updated.
RETURNS & EXCHANGES
For regular-priced items, please contact us as soon as possible if there is an issue with your order.
Items should be unused and returned in their original condition and packaging.
Personalised, customised, made-to-order, Final Sale and selected Archive pieces generally cannot be returned simply because you've changed your mind.
Your rights under applicable consumer laws still apply.
NORMAL WEAR & TEAR
Leather is meant to be used.
Over time you may notice scratches, creases, softening, patina or colour changes. Hardware can also develop small scratches, tarnishing or signs of use.
These are normal signs of wear and aren't considered manufacturing defects.
TAKE CARE OF YOUR LEATHER
Try to keep your piece away from excessive water, heat, perfume, alcohol, oils, ink and prolonged sunlight.
Be careful with dark denim against light leather, and with deeply coloured leather against light clothing, as colour transfer can sometimes happen.
When you're not using your piece, keep it somewhere cool and dry, preferably inside its dust bag.
REPAIRS
We want your Atelier Hanafedora pieces to stay with you for a long time.
If something needs repairing, get in touch with us. We'll assess the piece and let you know what's possible.
Some repairs may be chargeable depending on the cause of damage, age of the piece and materials required.
Original leather or hardware may not always be available, but we'll always try to find the closest suitable option.
SHIPPING
Please make sure your name, address and contact details are correct before checking out.
Once your parcel is with the courier, delivery times can sometimes be outside our control.
For international orders, any customs duties or import taxes are the customer's responsibility unless stated otherwise.
A LITTLE NOTE FROM THE ATELIER
We don't believe beautiful things have to look factory-perfect.
Leather has marks. Hand made leave imperfect traces. Objects change with time.
That's the beauty of choosing something made from a natural material and crafted by hand. But we still choose the best material.
Your piece will age with you, carry your stories and slowly become completely your own.
Thank you for appreciating the beauty of things made by hand.
